Orange Xingu Pike Cichlid is found in the fast-flowing, clear and rocky waters of Brazil’s Xingu river. Sometimes referred to in the hobby as a Xingu I. The numbering refers to different variants of the same fish being found.
The Orange Pike Cichlid is one of the more colorful members of the Crenicichla genus As a juvenile, they have a bright yellow color and are noticeably very active, curious, and peaceful. As they grow the males become very red on the center of the body with grey to black head and tail. It is a very striking fish. Very hard to come by. They turn up every now and then.
