The Surgeon Tang (Acanthurus bahianus)/(Acanthurus chirurgus) is a constant swimmer that will glide throughout your aquarium acting as a local aquarium tour guide. The Surgeon Tang is best to be in an aquarium of at least 30 gallons or larger with plenty of room to swim. Like other Tangs, it demonstrates territorial aggression towards its own species. It would be best to keep just one Surgeon Tang per aquarium, unless they are introduced into the system simultaneously. Although the Surgeon Tang will eat meaty foods along with the other fish in the aquarium, it is important to offer plenty of marine based seaweed and algae. The Surgeon Tang is an extremely popular, and hardy addition to any aquarium system.
