Pearly Razor Wrasse (4-6 inches)
Pearly Razor Wrasse prefers a sandy bottom of 2-3 inches. It will bury itself if frightened and can even move under the sand a few feet if necessary. It is also good to have a good lid because it can be a jumper. Foods best for the pearly razor wrasse diet enriched shrimps and other meaty foods. It may eat fireworms and pyramidellid snails, and even feather dusters.
The Pearly Razor Wrasse for sale are healthy specimens measuring approximately 4–6 inches in length. Each fish is carefully selected, fully acclimated, and feeding well before shipment.
The Pearly Razor Wrasse, Xyrichtys novacula, is a unique and fascinating saltwater fish known for its elongated body, pointed head, and graceful swimming style. Its pearly white to light green body is accented with subtle pink, blue, and yellow tones that shimmer beautifully under aquarium lighting, making it an eye-catching addition to any marine aquarium.
This active wrasse spends much of its day swimming through the aquarium in search of food and exploring its surroundings. One of its most interesting behaviors is its ability to dive into the sand when startled or at night, making a soft sandy substrate an important part of its enclosure. Watching this natural behavior is one of the many reasons hobbyists enjoy keeping this species.
Pearly Razor Wrasses adapt well to established saltwater aquariums with stable water quality and plenty of open swimming space. They readily accept high-quality marine pellets, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped shrimp, squid, and other meaty frozen foods. A varied diet helps maintain their health and vibrant appearance.
This species is generally peaceful and can do well in community marine aquariums with compatible tank mates. A tightly fitted lid is recommended, as wrasses are known to jump when startled. A well-established aquarium with live rock and a sand bed provides the ideal environment for long-term success.
