The Pudding Wife Wrasse, Halichoeres radiatus, is a beautiful and active saltwater fish prized for its vibrant coloration and constant movement. Juvenile specimens display attractive shades of yellow, orange, green, and blue that become even more striking as they mature. Their energetic swimming behavior and curious personality make them an excellent addition to larger marine aquariums.

This species is hardy when introduced into a well-established saltwater system and quickly adapts to captive life. Pudding Wife Wrasses spend much of the day swimming through the aquarium in search of food, making them one of the more active and entertaining fish to watch. They readily accept a variety of foods including marine pellets, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and other meaty frozen preparations.

Like many members of the wrasse family, the Pudding Wife Wrasse benefits from a sand bed where it can bury itself at night or when startled. A secure lid is also recommended, as wrasses are known to jump when frightened. They thrive in aquariums with plenty of open swimming space along with live rock for exploration and shelter.

As adults, this species grows considerably larger than many common wrasses, making it best suited for medium to large marine aquariums. It generally does well with other compatible fish but may prey on very small ornamental shrimp, crabs, and other tiny invertebrates.
